Booms, scratches and sad trombones.
A reaction soundboard for your Mac: cinematic booms, record scratches, crickets, a sad trombone, an air horn and a rimshot, all original or CC0.
12 packs · 234 clips
A pack isn't a folder of sound effects. It's a complete set: one sound for each of the 14 moments your Mac has, written so they belong together — the plug-in rises, the unplug falls, the alert never stabs. Switch pack and the whole machine changes character at once.
Every pack below plays right here, using the app's real clips. Pick a moment at the top, then press any pack to hear how it handles it. Nothing plays on its own.
Classic is free. The rest come with Pro, $6.99 once.

What you're actually getting
Every pack fills all 14 slots below. When an event fires, the app picks one of the 2 takes at random and never repeats the one it just played — which is why a charger sound you hear five times a day doesn't start grating by Thursday.
The library
Choose which sound you want to compare across packs, then press any card. Packs marked Pro still preview here and inside the app — you never buy a sound you haven't heard.

Cheeky moans for your charger.
Cheeky moans when you plug in, giggles and sighs for everything else. You know the one.
Adult humor · plays only when you press it
Every kind of fart, for every kind of moment.
Seven real fart recordings cut into all fourteen Mac moments: a crisp one for the charger, squeaks for the small stuff and a nuclear rumble on the hour.
Your Mac thinks you're amazing. Loudly.
Breathless praise for everything you do: gassed-up whoops on the charger, "uh-huh" when you unlock, and a crowd that loses it when the battery fills.
Second-hand embarrassment, on demand.
Pookie bear, wobbles, a wrong-answer buzzer and a bed squeak. For when a sound should make the room go quiet.
Quack, meow, moo, repeat.
A barnyard in your laptop: a duck quacks when you plug in, a rooster crows when it wakes, and cats, frogs, pigs, goats and dogs handle the rest.
Crystal clinks and a warm glass glow.
Soft crystal clinks, a singing wine glass and rounded glass-bowl chords in E major.
Rhodes chords, tape warble and a brushed snare.
Warm e-piano 9th chords on a worn cassette, a brushed snare and a whisper of vinyl.
Squishy chiptune bloops with a bounce.
Soft, rounded chiptune bloops, bubbly pitch slides and a little ping-pong echo in C major.
Drop the charger, drop the beat.
Festival air horns, club impacts and uplifters that break into 808s. The charger becomes the drop and the hourly chime becomes a rave siren.
Your laptop gets an ad-lib.
A hype man for your Mac: "okay!", "U did not", "ow!", laughs, scratches, snaps, brass hits, an air horn and a crowd cheer.
Boings, bonks and slide whistles.
Saturday-morning slapstick for your Mac: springy boings, slide whistles, cork pops, bonks, rubber honks and a kazoo fanfare.
Choosing one
The shootout is fun, but the pack you choose after ten seconds is rarely the one you keep. Two things predict it better.
The charger sound is the one you audition. The wake sound is the one you'll hear first thing every morning for a year. Play a pack's wake clip four times in a row; if you're still fine with it, the pack is fine.
An open-plan office, a shared flat and a bedroom at 6am all have different right answers. Chill packs travel best. Fun & Memes is a home-desk genre, and one of them is a headphones-only proposition.
Inside a pack

Opening a pack shows all 14 moments with their takes listed underneath. You can play any individual take, which is how you discover that a pack you dismissed on its charger sound has exactly the alert you wanted.
Packs are made of original recordings and material licensed for this use; where a pack owes an attribution, it's listed in the app's credits and in the footer of this site. Nothing is scraped from a sound-effects site and resold.
Sounds are short by policy: ticks are measured in tens of milliseconds, most events land under a second, and only the charger and hourly chime are allowed past that. They're also levelled against each other, so switching pack doesn't mean reaching for the volume.
Can't find the pack you want? There's a suggest-a-pack box on the home page, and it is read.
Pack questions
12 packs, 234 clips across the 14 Mac moments. A pack ships the sounds it does well rather than padding out all fourteen, and the free Classic pack covers anything it skips, so nothing is ever silent. Most moments have more than one take, and the app plays a different one each time so a sound you hear ten times a day doesn't wear out. Browse them.
The download is free and stays free. Free covers Charger connected and Charger disconnected with the Classic pack — no time limit, no account, no nagging. Pro is a one-time $6.99 for the rest. What's in each.
Yes, with Pro. The app has a My Sounds pane: drop in m4a, mp3, wav, aiff or caf files and they show up in the sound menu for any trigger, alongside the packs. Clips are copied into ~/Library/Application Support/Noisy Laptop/CustomSounds/ and never leave your Mac. More on using your own audio.
Yes — it's the Moan pack. Cheeky on plug-in, giggles and sighs for everything else. It's flagged as adult humor in the app, it's never the default, and it only plays if you pick it. Hear it and set it up.
It's built so it doesn't. Only 13 of the 26 events are on to start with, each has a cooldown, and device and network events are ignored for a few seconds after your Mac wakes — that burst is macOS reconnecting, not you.
There's also a whole Settings section for this. Meeting mode is on out of the box and keeps the app quiet whenever your camera or microphone is in use. Quiet hours silences it between times you set. Only play through headphones does what it says. And the menu bar has a mute and a pause.
